Huwbergine is a brand new artist hailing from Leeds, UK and self-proclaimed side hustle of KOYO frontman Huw Edwards. In his own words, “Huwbergine was my lockdown project. I shut myself away, worked on my production skills, shaved my head and attempted to reinvent myself".
His influences range from Prince, particularly Sign O’ The Times (an album that was well and truly rinsed during lockdown); to the synthy lushness of Tame Impala and Mac Demarco; to the fun loving, tongue in cheek-iness of Connan Mockasin and the tight hip-hop tinged grooves of drummer Yussef Dayes.
His debut and sophomore singles, “Grow" and “I’m On It”, both co-produced with Jay Russell (Yard Act), were self released in 2021. His follow-up single, “Back Then”, co-produced with Mike Horner (Everything Everything, Hot Chip) was released 11th May 2022 via 88 Watt Records.
